PROJECT BASED WORKS OF ART IDEAS and EXAMPLES TO FOLLOW WITHIN THIS PACKET

PROJECT 1: PINCH POT

A pinch pot is a simple form of hand-made pottery produced from ancient times to the present. The pinching method is to create pottery that can be ornamental or functional, and has been widely employed across cultures and times.

Questions to consider: What is clay? What is clay made of? What are the stages of clay? What tools are needed to create clay?

Critical Grading Criteria:

  • Smooth surface
  • Even thickness (about ¼ inch)
  • Unique work unlike any other classmates OR works that inspired you.
  • Attributes you can explain that make it a “high school” Level project.
  • Hour and Name or Initials are scribed in a place on your creation that does not take away from the overall look of the piece. (For clay traditionally on the bottom.)
